the reason there is no cover system and you are required to melee so much is that in the warhammer 40k boar game space marines are the best warriors and they are basically undefeatable. they are basically walking cover.

@JuberLOL: It just makes the review so much sloppier than it is. But, different standards.

@MobiusCoin all and PC but not Wii because Wii is shit.

@xReikenx That’s not really the point to the review. They’re not reviewing the 40k lore, they’re reviewing the new Space Marine game that takes place in the 40k universe and they’re just trying to answer the question: is it fun or not? Naming off a bunch of weapons doesn’t help answer that question.

Listening to these guys try to explain the lore of 40k or the names of weapons is painful. Soooo painful. ;-;

How hard is it to open up the multi-player load out screen and read the names? D:

@FurnitureFixer: I blame that Relic tried to make the game for consoles rather than focus on the PC.

I never really knew anything about this game until I watched this review and I’m glad I did. It seems like a really great looking game. Also, Alex, you’re beard for Beardnation is going to be so awesome. I think Kevin will fold ;)

Huge fan of WH40k. Used to play the table top game years ago then stopped, played the Dawn of War and Dawn of War: Dark Crusade games for PC and love ‘em.

This game is no exception. Yeah, it’s sloppy in some areas but it’s damn epic. Putting my bias aside, I’d give this game a 4/5 rating.

P.S. Space Marines don’t hide behind walls so there’s no need for a cover system, they go straight into battle – FOR THE EMPEROR!!!

@FurnitureFixer Wholeheartedly agree! Get to Dead Island! Although I am already playing it, I’m interested in hearing the guys’ take on it. I’m sure others are too.

this is a really good review, all 3 of you guys covered all the bases and described the core gameplay much better than the IGN and Gamespot reviews.

TRS trivia…
Who is singing for the theme song?
I think it’s Dan with a little sound tweaking so his voice sounds deeper.

The game is truely epic, in every sense of the word. It comes closest to what the depiction of the Space Marines is in the books, total bioengineered badasses fueled by honour and duty, in the name of the immortal Emperor.
I don’t recall them being the highest class citizen though, they rather are the grunts with the option to attain high military ranks. The bodies of the most valuable disabled veterans are bonded into huge biped battle tanks called Dreadnoughts, which is the greatest honour.
